First Flight Lands, An Emotional Moment for North Andhra

The Bhogapuram Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Vizianagaram district has achieved a major milestone with the successful landing of its first aircraft. An Air India flight from Delhi touched down at the airport as part of a trial run, marking an important step towards the airport becoming operational.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, MP Kalisetti, and other senior officials were on board the aircraft. Airport authorities closely monitored the trial landing to assess runway readiness and operational safety.

Bhogapuram Airport is being developed as a modern international facility with advanced infrastructure. It has a 3.8 kilometre long runway and, once fully operational, will be capable of handling nearly 300 flight movements per day. A key highlight of the airport is its ability to support landing and take off operations from both directions, making it highly efficient.

Construction work at the airport is nearly complete, with about 95 percent of the project finished. The GMR Group, which is developing the airport, plans to start full scale operations by June. Officials believe the airport will play a major role in boosting growth and connectivity in the North Andhra region.

Bhogapuram International Airport is not just another airport project for Andhra Pradesh. It marks a historic step towards building a future ready aviation and economic hub in North Andhra. What began as an infrastructure plan is now shaping up as a complete aviation ecosystem that will transform the region in the coming years.

Along with the airport, a massive 500 acre Aero City is being developed around Bhogapuram. This zone will include five star hotels, business centers, and modern commercial spaces, turning the area into a major destination for global investors and travelers. The project also includes an Aviation Education City that will train skilled professionals, along with Maintenance Repair and Overhaul facilities to support aircraft operations.

Adding further strength to the project, an Aero and Defence Manufacturing Park is planned, opening doors for high end manufacturing and technology based industries. These developments are expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, offering new opportunities for local youth.

Over the next five years, Bhogapuram is set to emerge as one of the fastest growing economic and employment hubs in Andhra Pradesh. For North Andhra, this airport is not just about flights taking off and landing. It is about growth, pride, and a long awaited future finally taking shape.
