One of the most important qualities a cabinet minister must have is a strong ground level understanding of their portfolio. Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh appears to have a clear and practical grasp of the issues within his departments.
While speaking about academic syllabi and changing global employment trends, Lokesh made a frank assessment of the current education system. He pointed out that many students graduating from traditional institutions are struggling to find jobs. Instead, several of them turn to private coaching centers in places like Ameerpet and secure employment within a few months.
Lokesh said this should not be seen as a failure of students, but as a failure of institutions. Teaching outdated content to children, he noted, is a betrayal of their trust and future.
He also highlighted that India’s education system remains highly constrained and compartmentalized. This limits students’ ability to compete for global employment opportunities. According to Lokesh, this gap between education and industry needs must be addressed urgently.
On a positive note, Lokesh said the Andhra Pradesh government has taken progressive steps by introducing artificial intelligence coaching from the primary education level. With AI expected to shape the future of global technology and IT infrastructure, this move is seen as a timely and well planned decision by the government.
