Andhra Pradesh has taken a major step in India’s clean energy journey with the launch of a large green hydrogen and green ammonia project at Kakinada. The project, developed by AM Green, marks the first time India will export green energy products to global markets such as Germany, Japan, and Singapore.
With an investment of about 10 billion dollars, the project is one of the biggest clean energy investments in the country. It is expected to create nearly 8,000 jobs during construction and many skilled jobs once operations begin.
The Kakinada facility will produce green ammonia using renewable power from solar and wind energy. The project will be completed in stages, with full production planned by 2030. It also uses existing industrial infrastructure, giving new life to an old fertiliser plant.
This development places Andhra Pradesh at the centre of India’s green energy ambitions and positions the state as a key player in the global clean energy market.=
