The Indian government has started to take the global WEF Summit in Davos, Switzerland, very seriously. Previously, it was Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu, who was maintaining a consistent presence at this global Summit, and now India has started to send multiple chief ministers to invite investments.
Coming to the topic now, the vice president of the BCCI, Rajeev Shukla had a controversial opinion about the Davos summit and he immediately drew the ire of the common public.
Rajeev commented earlier “It’s strange. Indians are going to Davos to meet Indians. State governments are signing agreements with Indian companies in Switzerland which they could have done in India. CMs are meeting CMs in Davos. It’s criminal waste of money. If they had signed agreements with foreign companies there I would have understood.”
While Rajiv might have his own personal opinion at a fundamental level, his derogatory comment while India is battling hard for investments at a global arena is not in the right spirit, commented a seasoned political analyst.
For instance, we have the recent comment from Andhra Pradesh, IT minister Lokesh, who stated that the Davos Sumit serves not as a platform to sign random MOUs but learn the important market trends.
He pointed out that the Indian delegation can ask the global investors questions about the existing and upcoming market trends which will help enhance their investment preparedness.
More importantly, this is a perfect platform for the local leaderships from India to meet global players, including the likes of Bill Gates, Tim Cook and other business heads. This is a precise platform for Indian leaders to start thinking globally and tune in with the concurrent global economic situation.
