It is already known that the Andhra Pradesh government has been cracking down on the abusive individuals on social media. When someone crosses the line and posts obscene pictures and shares misinformation on social media, they’re bound to come under the radar of AP police.
Now it is being established that the Andhra Pradesh government is taking a progressive measure when it comes to safeguarding the younger population from the bad side of social media.
IT minister Lokesh spoke with Bloomberg and vaguely discussed the idea of banning social media for kids below 16 years in Andhra Pradesh. He communicated that this decision is to safeguard the younger population from the malicious and harmful content on social platforms.
This ideation from Lokesh comes shortly after the Australian government had recently banned kids under 16 years on all social media platforms. Now the Andhra Pradesh government is proposing a similar idea.
While the central government has not publicly commented on this matter, nor does it have intention of scrutinising the same, it is the duty of the state government to take the call on this. And now, Lokesh has proactively spoken about the same.
It remains to be seen whether the Andhra Pradesh government will take this big decision and keep children under 16 away from social media, which has become a breeding ground for hate content.
