The Knowledge City in Amaravati is flourishing with many reputed institutions evincing interest in setting up their campus on the premises.
In a latest development, premier Deemed University BITS Pilani has signed a pact with the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) to purchase 70.011 acres of land in the revenue limits of Mandadam and Venkatapalem villages, in the Knowledge City, to set up its campus.
BITS Pilani Deputy Registrar VVSN Murthy said the Amaravati campus would be set up in three phases. In the first phase, works relating to eco-friendly smart buildings, services related to Artificial Intelligence and modern teaching would be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
Students will be enrolled for various courses from 2027. The campus would be designed suitable for batches of 10,000 students in phases.
Several other premier institutes like VIT-AO University, National Institute of Design and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham had already established their campuses in Amaravati.
The NDA government is focusing on all-round development of the state. On one hand, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is focusing on persuading IT giants set up their campuses in Amaravati, to provide employment to the youth, and on the other, ensuring social welfare schemes are being implemented effectively, apart from raising the educational standards of the students and enhancing their skills to make them industry-ready.
