Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that Microsoft co-founder and billionaire Bill Gates will visit Andhra Pradesh on February 14th or 15th as part of various technical collaborations between Gates Foundation and the state in several sectors like healthcare and nutrition, agriculture, and education for employment generation.
In March last year, a MoU by Gates and Naidu to leverage Artificial Intelligence and provide strategic support in various state driven initiatives. Later, Gates wrote a letter to Naidu to appreciate his vision towards implementing AI driven decision making and real time data systems.
Naidu’s association with Bill Gates dates back to several decades when he was the Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh. At that time, Naidu first met Gates and explained about his vision and convinced him to set up the first campus of Microsoft in Hyderabad, which was a historical step in shaping up the city as a technology hub. It was also a turning point in transforming the landscape of IT sector in the country as well.
Both Naidu and Gates maintained a very good rapport over these years as Microsoft continues to associate with the state government in various skill development programs. After coming to power in 2024, Naidu started focusing on creating an AI ecosystem in the state by joining hands with Microsoft and other stakeholders.
With Naidu back at the helm, Andhra Pradesh will once again aim to retain its top position as far as investments and technology enabled advancements are concerned. So, Bill Gates visit is likely to assume greater significance this time.
