Why Revanth Reddy Stayed Silent On Kova Bun Controversy?

The Kova bun issue completely occupied Instagram and has become a talking point across the social media.

The issue erupted during the Medaram festival where a Telugu YouTube channel targeted a Muslim vendor selling kova buns, alleging adulteration, lack of expiry dates, and “food jihad” while publicly harassing him.

The visuals of the vendor Vali emotionally eating his own bun to prove it was safe moved hearts and there is an overwhelming support for Vali cutting across the religions.

Support poured in for Vali from locals, influencers, political figures and others condemning the harassment. Former Minister KTR previously tweeted in support of Vali. The other day, AP IT Minister Nara Lokesh expressed sympathy, condemned divisive behavior, and planned to meet Vali and taste the buns. Interestingly, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is yet to respond on this issue.

The Kova Bun issue is a burning topic and is something that easily connects with the masses. That is the reason why KTR and Lokesh responded on the issue. Probably, Revanth Reddy may have chose to stay silent because he may have thought it is a Hindu-Muslim topic and it will be unwise to touch it during the elections. A Politician will definitely fail if he cannot sense a topic helping him politically.

Previously, Revanth Reddy used one such topic when the Cyberabad traffic police ordered Kumari Aunty’s stall to shut down or relocate due to severe traffic congestion caused.

He directed the Telangana DGP and the MA&UD (Municipal Administration & Urban Development) department to rescind the decision and allow her to continue operating at the same spot. Kumari Aunty thanked the Chief Minister publicly, with emotional statements and videos expressing gratitude. The issue highlighted Revanth Reddy’s quick response to social media-driven public sentiment and support for street vendors/small businesses.

But then, the Chief Minister missed another such opportunity as he may have got extra cautious due to the elections.
