What Is Subrahmanian Swamy’s Problem With CBN?

Former Rajya Sabha MP Subrahmanian Swamy has been taking a Special Interest in Andhra Pradesh for quite some time. He has been filing cases related to Andhra Pradesh Politics particularly over the Religious issues.

He was the one who approached the Supreme Court for a CBI Inquiry on Laddu Adulteration Row and now, he again approached the Apex Court demanding that the State Government-appointed One Man Committee should not be allowed on the same matter.

This is not the first time Swamy tried to help YSR Congress especially on Religious matters. He tried to give clean chit to YSR Congress leaders on the allegations of misuse of funds of Srivani Trust. 

He even used to say there were no conversions happening in Andhra Pradesh during Jagan’s rule. At one stage, he even threatened ABN of filing a case for telecasting a Program about Christianity related text on TTD Website.

So, What is the real motive of Swamy?

Swamy was previously an anti-corruption crusader and a strong Hindutva voice. He troubled the then UPA government and played an instrumental role in bringing the BJP to Power in 2014.

He was nominated to the Rajya Sabha but he tried to behave as a nutcase and distanced himself from Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. He thought YSR Congress is the only way to get a re-nomination due to the party’s numbers back then.

Since then, he has been helping YSR Congress going against his foundation principles of Anti-corruption and Hindutva. YSR Congress used Swamy’s services but when it came to renominating him to Rajya Sabha, Jagan could not as Modi and Amit Shah reportedly warned him.

However, Swamy is still continuing to help YSR Congress as he channeled all his hate on the BJP on to Chandrababu Naidu, the key ally of the NDA Government.

It is interesting to note that Swamy’s daughter’s father-in-law is Popular Environmentalist EAS Sharma who filed many cases in NGT against Amaravati. He was the reason for delaying of Amaravati works between 2015 and 2019. 

However, there is no guarantee that Swamy’s love for Jagan will continue forever. Swamy previously worked closely with Jayalalithaa and Sonia Gandhi. But once, they did not entertain all his whims and fancies, he unleashed a witch-hunt on them and tried to destroy them. So, it is not easy for Jagan to handle Swamy.
