YSR Congress is facing existential crisis in Andhra Pradesh as the party got relegated from power in 2024 to a pathetic position of 11 seats. On one hand, Jagan is promising a different rule in his second tenure, Jagan 2.0, but the ground level activity of the party cadres is in question.
While the party is facing such a situation, one of its firebrand leader Kethireddy Venkatrami Reddy has made a tall comment while interacting with YCP leaders the other day.
Kethireddy issued a serious warning to the leaders who had left YSR Congress during its tough time and hope to come back in the future. He commented that serious action will be taken against those who deserted the party during the time of the need.
“I myself will take my slipper in hand and slap those who left YCP after 2024 and later look to come back to our party. I might forgive and invite even our party opponents but I will never forget those who left the party in tough times and look to comeback before or after 2029 election. I will not even let them touch my gate.” He said.
The firebrand leader further added that he will make sure that his slipper footprint will cover the entire face of those who look to come back into YCP.
This tall comment from Kethireddy might sound good to ear but has little practical value, remarked a political expert. It was pointed out that YSR Congress is not in a position to dictate’s who joins the party and who leaves considering the clear electoral mandate which is completely against the party.
Moreover, it is added that politics naturally demand leaders to switch from one party to another based on local equations. Going to the degree of threatening them with a slipper shots some 3 years before the election will serve the party no purpose, the observer commented.
