It is already known that Telugu Desam Eluru MP Putta Mahesh got himself into a mess after he was caught in a drug test at former BRS MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy’s private party in Hyderabad. Subsequently, there was a lot of public backlash and growing pressure on TDP to take adequate action against him.
In accordance with this, the Telugu Desam Party has reacted strongly to the issue as it has sent a show cause notice to the MP asking for an explanation.
The Eluru MP has been asked to submit a written response on the ongoing allegations against him within a period of five days. The party leadership said the allegations and widespread media reports have been taken seriously as they could damage the party’s reputation.
Putta Mahesh has been directed to submit a written explanation within five days and to stay away from party activities until a detailed report on the incident is received. Further action will be taken based on the explanation submitted.
Considering the severity of the issue and the detrimental nature of this shocking activity by the MP, even TDP cadre have been pushing the leadership to take strong measures and set a strong precedent.
Now that the party has asked for an explanation, further action including a potential suspension could be taken based on his response. Whatever might be the explanation, the fact that an MP was caught in a drug test is never a good sign for him as an individual and also for the party at a fundamental level. So the responsibility is now on the party leadership to make things right.
