Visakhapatnam is set to witness a major milestone as Andhra Pradesh moves ahead with one of its biggest industrial projects. A massive steel plant backed by a huge investment of Rs 1.36 lakh crore will be launched tomorrow, marking a significant step in the state’s industrial growth.
The project will be developed by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India at Rajayyapeta in Nakkapalli mandal of Anakapalli district. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone along with Union Ministers during a special ceremony.
This greenfield integrated steel plant will be built in two phases and will have a production capacity of 17.8 million metric tonnes per year. The project is expected to generate around one lakh jobs, providing a major boost to employment in the region.
Along with the plant, a captive port will also be developed with an investment of Rs 11,198 crore, creating an additional 6000 job opportunities. The project is likely to transform the Visakhapatnam region into a major industrial hub and strengthen its position in the national and global steel market.
The state government is actively supporting the project to ensure quick completion. Infrastructure work, including a four lane road connecting the plant to National Highway 16, is already progressing at a fast pace.
Several key industry leaders, including Lakshmi Mittal and Aditya Mittal, are expected to attend the foundation ceremony.
With such a large scale investment and strong backing, this project is seen as a game changer for North Andhra’s economy.
