1st Time In India? AI Campaign In Elections!

The kind of entertainment and excitement that Indian election offer is beyond the comprehension for global viewers. The kind of theatrics and out of the box thinking that we see in Indian electioneering is unlike anything anywhere else in the world. 

This is on perfect display as we look at the election campaign as something pretty extraordinary has happened here.

At an election campaign in Tamil Nadu last night, the local TVK party candidate used holographic AI technology to bring the imagery and vocal effects of Thalapathy Vijay for his roadshow. 

In the viral video that is trending on social media, we get to see a holographic image of Vijay that was generated through visual technology and audio effects generated through AI.

Visual imagery and AI audio is used to generate a virtual effect of Vijay attending the election campaign while he is actually not even on the spot. This is a very innovative way, and perhaps one of the first times that AI technology is being used at a public capacity in Indian election system. 

Over the last few days, we have seen a few TVK candidates using banners and life-size posters of Vijay for their campaigns. But the video from last night, where a holographic AI was used to virtually bring Vijay to the meeting is a work of art.

Whatever might be the electoral outcome of the Tamil Nadu election, the innovative thinking of Thalapathy Vijay’s party members is opening new grounds to other parties across the country.
