The central government has been seriously contemplate in the idea of delimitation where the number of constituencies across the Parliament and Assembly segments in the country would be expanded by at least 50%.
This would naturally affect the regional parties as it would disturb their foothold in the assembly election. This topic came to discussion with regard to Andhra Pradesh politics as many people felt YSR Congress would be on the losing end if this delimitation is imposed.
However, the YCP leadership appears to have a surprisingly positive outlook of this matter and this was conveyed by Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy today.
“The procedure that is being outlaid by the central government is fairly positive. In view of the growing population index, they’re looking to expand the assembly and parliament constituencies by 50%. This is a good thing for development. Moreover, they are following a clear procedure to implement this. We are more than satisfied with the way it is happening.” Sajjala said.
While neighbouring politicians like Revanth Reddy, Stalin, Thalapathy Vijay and others have been openly dissing this delimitation prospect of the governments many expected a similar stance from YCP.
It is understandable that TDP and Janasena are in approval of this delimitation plan as they’re already in alliance with NDA. But YSR Congress being the opposition party is expected to oppose the same.
However that’s not the case with the leadership now as Ramakrishna Reddy has conveyed that his party is more than happy with this procedure.
