The shutdown called by the farmers is going on all over India. From the wee hours of Tuesday, many states are observing this #BharatBandh call. In Telangana, with the state government extending the support to the shutdown, it is going on smoothly. All the bus depots across Telangana have witnessed a deserted look.
The YSRCP government in AP was late in offering the support, yet the bandh is underway across the state. A group of farmers staged a protest in Vijayawada against the three farm bills and demanded the Centre to take back the bill immediately.
However, the scenario is different in BJP ruled states. The police in BJP ruled states have house-arrested and detained opposition leaders. They have imposed 144 section across major cities in respective states. Especially in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, the 144 Section is being implemented strictly and the police have warned of consequences if people are found in groups or staging a protest.
But surprisingly West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is not supporting the #BharatBandh and she asked her Trinamool Congress (TMC) party workers not to take part in the shutdown.
