Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy is a man of strong principles as he goes all out when he fully believes and trusts in a system. He has done the same with regard to the MLC election at the very last minute now.
Incidentally, Congress Senior leader Azharuddin, who had been included in the state cabinet six months ago, was running out of time to be legislated as an MLC. This is in tune with the regulation that a cabinet minister needs to hold a legislative position within six months of appointment if he isn’t a representative already.
With just four days to go for the expiry of the six month period for Azharuddin’s nomination in the cabinet, CM Revanth Reddy had to scuffle with the administration to make it happen.
Reportedly Revanth Reddy was constantly in touch with the governor’s office and saw to it that Azharuddin’s inclusion in the Legislative council got completed on time before the expiry. He went all out to make it all happen within the timeframe and got things rolling.
Earlier during the Jubilee Hills election, there was a large scale negative narrative against Revanth Reddy saying he included Azharuddin in the car, just to secure Muslim votes in the city. But it turns out that Revanth Reddy was committed to Azharuddin’s nomination from the first day, and his extra effort with the governor to legislate the appointment is a testimony of the same.
Congress anyway had the backing of the Muslim community to a large extent, and this latest development involving Revanth Reddy, and his efforts to secure Azharuddin could bring the leadership that much closer to the community.
