Guntur West MLA Galla Madhavi won encomiums from her peers and ministers for taking a bold step towards empowerment of transgenders. She appointed a transgender as her personal assistant (PA) and elevated the standard of the community.
Education minister Nara Lokesh expressed happiness over the madhavi’s initiative in taking a decision that could transform the lives of transgenders.
Taking to X, he appreciated the MLA for setting a golden standard by taking a different path that reflected her secular standards and push towards inclusive growth. By providing employment to the marginalized sections, Lokesh said that Madhavi displayed her leadership skills.
According to reports, a woman who completed her graduation approached Madhavi seeking a job. Identifying her potential, the MLA appointed her as the PA.
The MLA said that she gave the appointment as she knew the hardships of transgenders working attraffic signals and in the railways. With an intention to provide a decent job to a transgender, the MLA said that she took the decision.
She promised to take the issues of transgenders to the notice of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and take steps to ensure their welfare.
Lokesh said that Madhavi’s ideal needs to be emulated in the society.
