2 Seats To Decide The Tamil Nadu Government Now?

Tamil star Vijay is the President of the single largest party in the state, TVK. He is naturally bound to be the new chief minister of Tamil Nadu and he even consulted the governor multiple times regarding the same.

However, the governor has not yet approved this move by Thalapathy to form the government as he is concerned about the numerical support for TVK which needs 118 seats to formulate the government.

A few hours ago, there were extensive reports that Vijay could be forming the government, and he is bound to swear in as the CM tomorrow, May 9. However, this is getting debunked now, as the latest reports are suggesting that there is a possibility of AIDMK government as well.

AMMK general secretary Dhinakaran submitted a letter to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar extending support to AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palanisami to form the new government in the state.

If that is the case, then AIDMK needs the support of DMK to form the government, which would mean the coming together of two rival camps in Tamil Nadu. This could go down badly in the public as people would think these two parties are uniting to undo the largest party which is led by Vijay.

Even when it comes to the numbers, AIDMK and DMK can constitute only 117 seats with rest small parties. The Congress, CPI and CPM are with TVK while BJP has boycotted the same.

This is not just impractical, but also possibly redundant of the public mandate that was clearly in favour of Vijay. We have to see which way this politics would end up in Tamil Nadu henceforth.

Well, so much activity has been happening in the political arena, VCK, which is one of the crucial parties with two MLAs has stated “We have placed certain demands before TVK leader Vijay regarding Dalit rights and our party’s welfare. Once they are accepted, an official announcement will be made tomorrow.”

This could also potentially dictate the outcome of the government formation in Tamil Nadu.
