Lockdown: Domestic violence is on rise

The internet is flooded with memes and TikTok videos of men doing cooking and household works. All thanks to the nationwide lockdown due to the Corona virus. They said this is a good sign that men are learning how to cook and manage works at home. But there is an adverse effect too.

Due to lockdown there has been a drastic increase of domestic violence cases all over the country. From March 24th midnight, the lockdown came into effective and since the date, 58 cases of domestic violence have been filed at National Commission for Women (NCW).

Among the 58, majority of the cases have been reported in the northern part of India and most cases are registered in Punjab said, NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma. She added that these cases got registered at the NCW and there may be many at local police stations.
