Lost The Election After 15 Years, Getting Merged With Congress?

After staying in power for three consecutive terms and getting the reputation of one of the most powerful regional parties in India, the TMC is facing a problematic situation now.

The Trinamool Congress, which is headed by Mamata Banerjee had been in power for the last 15 years in West Bengal, but they ended up losing to BJP this year and is now facing existential crisis.

The latest developments are suggesting that the TMC leadership is considering a potential merger with the Congress party and they have even received a significant offer from the Congress High command.

According to the latest media reports, Sonia Gandhi has reportedly offered Mamata Banerjee the post of Congress National Vice President and Abhishek Banerjee the role of General Secretary as part of talks over a possible Congress–TMC merger.

For now, this might just be a media speculation and unverified report, but considering the bad situation of the TMC in West Bengal, anything can happen anytime and that’s what’s becoming concerning factor here.

The BJP has amplified the political attack on TMC and several of the party leaders have already resigned or looking for other alternatives. There is a strong chance that TMC could be completely eradicated from Bengal by the super strong BJP which stormed to power this year.
