Polavaram project works are now moving at a much faster pace after the change in government in Andhra Pradesh. The NDA government says the project, which suffered major setbacks during the previous YSRCP rule, is finally back on track with renewed focus and faster execution.
One of the biggest achievements highlighted by officials is the reconstruction of the damaged diaphragm wall. The new wall was reportedly completed in just 14 months with the support of international experts and advanced engineering methods. The government also claims that seepage issues and damaged sections near the main dam area have been repaired successfully.
Work on the left canal, rehabilitation colonies, and dam structures has also picked up speed in the last two years. Officials say more than 80 percent of canal related works are completed, while rehabilitation efforts for displaced families are being accelerated.
The target now is to complete the Polavaram project before the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu. To achieve that, the government still needs to speed up construction, land acquisition, and rehabilitation activities over the next year.
The project remains one of the most important irrigation and development lifelines for Andhra Pradesh, and the latest updates suggest that the government is treating it as a top priority.
