YS Jagan has his own way of defending the people surrounding him. This was earlier seen in the case of Avinash Reddy, who was accused by Sunitha and Sharmila of late Vivekananda Reddy’s murder.
Now a similar scenario has unfolded in Srikakulam when Jagan went to visit Sidiri Appala Raju, who was arrested after his son hit and killed a common man with his bike in an accident.
During this press conference, Jagan was floating random logic that made very little social consciousness. He gave the implication that there is absolutely nothing wrong in the accidental murder.
“Accidents happen generally, and no one plans for them to happen. Just because this kid(Appala Raju’s son) hit someone and killed, does he deserve to have his life ruined at 18 years of age? It wasn’t like he consciously killed a person by purpose.” Jagan said.
Jagan further said this 18 year-old individual had even performed CPR when the victim was suffocating on the road. “ Would anyone with untrue intention stop the bike and call ambulance and then perform CPR to save the victim?”
Jagan clearly implied that there was nothing wrong with the accident that claimed the life of a shepherd. Many people are stunned by this argument, as they find it difficult to accept that a former Chief Minister appears to be defending his cabinet colleague’s son while overlooking the loss suffered by an ordinary family affected by the tragedy.
Recently, a media channel visited the victim’s family and highlighted the devastating impact of the tragedy. The deceased was the family’s sole breadwinner, and his death has left them in severe emotional and financial distress. The report brought renewed attention to the human cost of the incident.
Given these circumstances, a former Chief Minister is expected to speak with greater caution on such sensitive issues. Questions are also being raised about whether those around Jagan are providing him with the complete picture before he makes public remarks. If that is the case, he may need to reassess both his approach and the advice he receives before it is too late.
