North Andhra Set for a New Growth Story, Says Chandrababu at Bhogapuram Airport Launch

The inauguration of Bhogapuram International Airport marked more than the opening of a new airport. Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu described it as the beginning of a new chapter for North Andhra, saying the region is now entering a new phase of development.

Speaking at the event after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport, Chandrababu said the project would change the future of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. He thanked the farmers who gave their land for the airport and said they played a key role in making the project possible.

The Chief Minister said the airport would improve connectivity, attract industries, increase tourism and create employment opportunities. He compared Bhogapuram Airport to Hyderabad’s Shamshabad Airport, saying it has the potential to transform the entire region.

Highlighting future plans, Chandrababu said the government is developing a beach corridor between Visakhapatnam and Bhogapuram. He also announced that eight major irrigation projects in North Andhra would be completed over the next few years. The government will also move ahead with the Vamsadhara Godavari river linking project to strengthen irrigation in the region.

The Chief Minister said the NDA government has attracted large investments to North Andhra over the last two years. According to him, these projects are expected to generate lakhs of jobs and make the region a major destination for industries, tourism and business.

Referring to the airport project, Chandrababu also took an indirect swipe at the previous government. He said there was a time when some people questioned the need for an airport in Bhogapuram, but today the region has a world class international airport.

Chandrababu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting Andhra Pradesh in projects such as Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Amaravati, Polavaram and the Visakhapatnam Railway Zone. He expressed confidence that Polavaram would be completed by 2027 and the first phase of Amaravati by 2028.

Prime Minister Modi praised Chandrababu’s efforts to attract investments and said the Centre would continue to work closely with the Andhra Pradesh government. He said better infrastructure, industries and investments would create more jobs and accelerate the state’s economic growth.
