Hours after the Election Commission of India announcing the by-election for Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency, the Congress high command has confirmed the candidate. Well no guesses here as it will be veteran Jana Reddy who will contest the by-poll.
This was both expected and unexpected thing because strong rumours made it to headlines that Jana Reddy might join BJP and he was also in talks with TRS. Settling all the rumours aside, Congress high command showed faith on Jana Reddy being the senior most politician in the state. Also the Congress has slight advantage by announcing their candidate way before other political parties and Jana Reddy can begin the campaign right away without any further delay.
Meanwhile the TRS and BJP are in dilemma. TRS had plans to field one of the family members of late Nomula Narasimhaiah considering the sentiment factor. But it backfired in Dubbaka yet the TRS sources are not ruling out allotting the ticket to Nomula’s son.
BJP wants a strong candidate as this election will be different compared to Dubbaka. It will be eyeing other party leaders for sure and once the election notification will be released, we can see some interesting political developments.
