Congress senior leader and former minister in YSR’s cabinet, M Satyanarayana Rao aka MSR, has passed away. He breathed his last on Monday while undergoing treatment at NIMS. He was suffering from Covid. He is survived by wife, two daughters and two sons.

MSR had served as the PCC chief in the united Andhra Pradesh state. He had also served as minister and RTC chairman in the united state. He was a three-time MP from Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency.

Started his political career as a student leader, MSR had good bond with Gandhi family. He was associated with Indira Gandhi. He had played crucial role in Rajiv Gandhi’s political entry and was a close aide of Rajiv Gandhi. MSR was known for his frank and outspoken comments.

During YSR’s tenure as CM, MSR had thrown an open challenge to KCR in 2006 to dare to seek re-election as Karimnagar MP.

KCR had accepted the challenge and it led to by-election in Karimnagar Lok Sabha. KCR had won by a huge margin of over two lakh votes. After this, MSR was chided by the Congress Party.
