Long queues were seen at several liquor stores in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana just moments after Chief Minister KCR announced a 10-day lockdown in the state starting from tomorrow.
Wine shops and liquor marts witnessed a sudden rush as people raced to stock up on alcohol for over 10 days. Social distancing was missing at some liquor shops as queues grew longer.
Patrolling vehicles have come in as soon as the queues grew larger at the liquor shops. Boozers gathered in large numbers. This is even after the state government has permitted all regular activities between 6 AM to 10 AM during the lockdown period.
While it is not clear yet if wine shops would be open during these hours, people rushed to buy liquor as their favourite brand alcohol may get sold.
