Telangana: Vaccination For 18+ Opens At Pvt Hospitals

India has opened Covid-19 vaccination for 18 years above from May 1st but it took 25 days for the Telangana government to initiate it. A decision to permit the vaccination for 18 years above was taken by Telangana CM KCR post a review meeting held earlier in the day.

However, this vaccination is only permitted to the private hospitals and people who are eligible to get the vaccine should register in CoWIN portable. “#Telangana Health Dept permits private #vaccination centres to  vaccinate people above 18 years of age & workplace vaccination. Registrations on #CoWIN portal,” tweeted Telangana’s Director of Public Health, Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao.

This means, this is a paid service and private hospitals have the flexibility to fix the price cap on the vaccines. For obvious reasons it will be expensive and highly in demand.

Also the Telangana government has allowed private companies to procure vaccines for its employees. A number of companies in Hyderabad have been waiting for the government’s nod and as some big MNCs are based out in Hyderabad, they are likely to vaccinate their employees.
