Hyderabadi Commits Suicide Over ‘exorbitant’ Hospital Bill

While people are fighting the pandemic, the private hospitals are harassing them by looting money in these tough times. For the last few days, we have seen many cases where private hospitals are heavily charging the public and harassing if the payment is not done. This reckless attitude resulted in the death of a man in Hyderabad.

If we get into the story, 54-year-old P Madhusudhan is a resident of the Saroornagar area in Hyderabad. Recently, he was tested positive for the coronavirus. Along with him, his wife Manjula and son Parthasarathy were also tested positive for the virus. All of them were admitted to a private hospital in Kothapet. At the time of admission, they were informed that each person has to pay Rs. 5 lakhs as a part of the COVID-19 treatment package.

Madhusudhan’s wife and son were discharged a few days back after getting recovered and paying Rs. 5 lakhs each. Madhusudhan stayed back as he was yet to recover. The hospital management had allegedly told him that he would be discharged only after paying the remaining dues.

Upset over this attitude, Madhusudhan jumped from his room, which is on the second floor of the hospital. Soon, he was admitted to another hospital in Kothapet. He passed away while undergoing treatment. The police have registered the case and started investigating it.
