Kishan Reddy To Be CM Candidate Of BJP?

The elevation of Kishan Reddy from the Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs to Union Tourism Minister and development of the North East is seen as a crucial step. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to be mighty impressed with the work of Kishan Reddy as MoS for Home Affairs. Especially in the North-east region, Kishan Reddy is said to have dealt well in handling the extremist groups.

Kishan Reddy, who was made the in-charge of the Control Room constituted by the Home Affairs during the Covid-19 pandemic, is said to have delivered unmatchable work. Besides this, Kishan Reddy is also said to have contributed well to the party in the crucial elections by improving the party’s performance. Looking at his work as the MoS Home Affairs under Amit Shah and as well as his contribution for the party and how he improved the party’s overall performance in crucial polls in various states, BJP’s top brass has decided to promote Kishan Reddy as the Union Cabinet Minister.

And this move has a future ambition for the Lotus Party. BJP has been wanting to get hold of Telangana from longtime now. After clinching Karnataka, BJP is struggling hard to make inroads into other Southern States but to no anvil. In recently concluded Tamil Nadu, BJP had shown poor performance. In Kerala too, BJP couldn’t make its mark. BJP is now pinning high hopes on Telangana where it has been consistently doing well – be it in Dubbaka by-election or GHMC polls or by winning 4 MP seats (Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Secunderabad) in 2019 general election.

In this backdrop, the elevation of Kishan Reddy indicates a bigger picture for BJP in Telangana. BJP is aware of the fact that there is no strong face to fight KCR in the state. Though Bandi Sanjay has been going all out and taking on KCR, BJP still feels that the party needs a bigger personality to take on KCR. For this, BJP is elevating Kishan Reddy to project him as the future CM candidate of the party in Telangana. As soon as Kishan Reddy’s elevation news broke out, Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay flew to Delhi to congratulate Kishan Reddy personally. Bandi Sanjay announced that he and the party would be working in the state in the direction of Kishan Reddy. This is a clear indication that Kishan Reddy is given free-hand and is going to take on KCR in Telangana in coming days.

While Congress has made its firebrand leader Revanth Reddy as the TPCC chief, BJP too decided to up its ante against KCR in Telangana and decided to elevate Kishan Reddy. So, Kishan Reddy’s elevation as Union Minister has its own political reasons. After all, every move of a political party has political reasons.
