Fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi suffered a major legal setback after the UK High Court rejected his plea to reopen the appeal against his extradition to India. The court ruled that his claims of possible mistreatment did not qualify as “exceptional circumstances.” Wanted in the ₹13,800-crore Punjab National Bank fraud case, Modi has been in UK custody since 2019.
