In a setback ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, actor-politician Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam lost the chance to contest from the Edappadi constituency after its candidate’s nomination was rejected. Officials said the papers lacked the required number of proposers. The seat is currently represented by Edappadi K. Palaniswami, making the development a major embarrassment for TVK before its electoral debut.
