For the last few months, there is an uncertainty prevailing on the future of MS Dhoni in IPL cricket. The skipper of Chennai Super Kings never opened up on his IPL retirement plans until now.
However, he now hinted that fans can bid him a farewell at CSK’s home venue Chepauk Stadium. This means Dhoni will most likely feature in the next edition of the league. In a virtual meet held with CSK fans last evening, Dhoni was asked by a fan about the reason behind choosing August 15th to announce his international retirement and also expressed her disappointment for not getting a chance to see his farewell live at the stadium.
Answering her, Dhoni said, “It can’t be a better day than that — 15th August. When it comes to farewell, you can still come and see me play for CSK and that can be my farewell game. So, you will still get that opportunity to bid me farewell.”
“Hopefully, we will come to see Chennai and play my last game over there and we can meet fans there,” he added.
Now, CSK team owners, Indian Cements confirmed that they will retain MS Dhoni. Talking to CricBuzz, the team management revealed that Dhoni will play IPL next year and some more years. “There is no way to conclude that his next year with CSK is a final one,” the team management said.
Dhoni successfully led CSK 11 times to the playoffs in the history of the IPL. The men in yellow qualified for the playoffs this time as well. Most likely, they may finish on the top-two positions of the points table.
