The dream run of Harshal Patel is continuing in this edition of IPL. The Royal Challengers Bangalore bowler is currently the purple cap holder in the league with 29 wickets under his belt.
Recently, he broke the record of most wickets scalped by an uncapped player in an edition of IPL. In the last night’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Harshal scalped three wickets and broke the record of most wickets by an Indian bowler in a single IPL edition.
Jasprit Bumrah held this record by getting 27 wickets in the 2020 season. Harshal scalped the wickets of Kane Williamson, Wriddhiman Saha, and Jason Holder in last night’s game and raised his tally to 29.
The 30-year-old pacer is now just three wickets away from equalling the record of Dwayne Bravo to get most wickets in a single season. Bravo scalped 32 wickets in IPL 2013.
Harshal will play two more matches for sure. If RCB wins a game in the playoffs, he will play further knock-out matches as well.
Going by his current form, it looks like Harshal will definitely break the record of Bravo and become the bowler to get the most wickets in a single edition.
