After almost a month of its run, T20 World Cup is finally coming to an end. The big final will be held tonight in Dubai. Neighbouring countries Australia and New Zealand will take on each other in this game. Both teams are yet to win a T20 World Cup and thus, it is an extremely important game for them.
New Zealand can be considered the most consistent team in the ICC tournaments in the last six years. It was the runner-up in the 2015 World Cup and 2019 World Cup as well. It was the winner of the ICC World Test Championship 2021. Now, it is in the final of the T20 World Cup. Captain Kane Williamson and his team will be looking forward to repeating the success of the WTC final. But that is not going to be an easy task for sure.
Australia didn’t enter this tournament as favourites. The likes of England, India, Pakistan and the West Indies were way stronger than the Aussies on paper. But Aaron Finch and his men proved everyone wrong and performed extremely well throughout the league. Especially, their chase against Pakistan in the last game will remain one of the best matches in the history of Australian T20 cricket. They have qualified for the finals in the 2010 T20 World Cup but failed to lift the cup. They wouldn’t want to repeat that feat this time.
NZ’s Devon Conway, who has injured himself in the semifinal, will miss out on this game. He will be replaced by Tim Seifert. On the flip side, Australia may not make any changes to its playing XI.
The match starts at 07.30 PM IST.
