U19 WC: Guntur Cricketer Makes Andhra Proud

Team India grabbed the U-19 World Cup by beating England. Today, everyone is praising the players who contributed to the amazing victory. Interestingly, Guntur based Shaik Rasheed is also one among the team whose crucial knock of 50 helped India win the U-19 world cup. Rasheed registered a brilliant inning of 94 in the semi-final against Australia too.

Rasheed got great support from his family members. His father Balisha who used to do menial jobs has been crucial in shaping Rasheed’s career, despite facing financial difficulties.

Rasheed was six when his father spotted cricket skills in him. Initially, he took training in Hyderabad. Later, Rasheed was selected for ACA coaching academy at Mangalagiri. His entire family shifted to Mangalagiri to support Rasheed’s coaching.

Post the victory of Team India in the U-19 world cup, Rasheed’s father expressed his happiness over son’s role in success. “We are feeling proud that our son played a key role in India’s World Cup victory. His real innings began just now and I am confident that he will play for the Indian senior team one day,’’ Balisha said New India Express.

ACA announced a Rs 10 lakh cash reward for Rasheed for his contribution to India’s victory in the world cup.
