The ongoing edition of the champions trophy 2025 is nearing its completion with the final League game to be played tomorrow between India and New Zealand. It is confirmed that both India and New Zealand have qualified for the semi-finals, but the question is about the positions at which these two teams will be finishing which will decide their opponents in the semis.
Meanwhile, there is a parallel discussion happening about the designing of the tournament and the scheduling of the same.
South African player Rassie Van der Dussen stated that India is the most comfortable team in the tournament as they have the least amount of travelling to do. He noted that India can comfortably stay in Dubai for all their games and need not to travel to other venues, which is indeed a fact.
Senior journalist, Rajdeep Sardesai also commented the same last night as he said India is very comfortably sitting in Dubai while other teams are having to do cross country trips from UAE to Pakistan to accommodate the scheduling. He further noted that India has a comfortable one week gap before the final league game against New Zealand, which is indeed followed by the semi-final shortly after.
The narrative now is that India is comfortably staying at one location and playing all their games in one venue while other teams are having to travel across two countries and play in multiple venues, which is a challenge. This is being carried in such a way that the tournament is designed to be heavily in favour of India.
However, it must be noted that this logical issue arose in the first place as India refused to travel to Pakistan for security reasons. This is an alteration that had to be made at any cost and the same was enforced.
