The coming season of IPL is starting on March 22, and the anticipation is firmly building on the same. And in the meanwhile, something interesting has happened with regard to the final squad selection for Delhi Capitals.
Incidentally, England player Harry Brook, who was picked by Delhi Capitals in this year’s mega auction decided to opt out of the tournament at the last minute. However, this comes with its own penalty as he has been banned from IPL for two years.
For those wondering why Harry Brook has been banned from IPL for a couple of years here is a look into the story.
The IPL governing body had announced before this year’s mega auction that any foreign player who enrolled for the auction and get picked by a franchise, but decides to opt out at the last minute for any reason, will be banned for two years from IPL. This move was intended to keep the foreign players, humble and warn them of consequences if they decide to meddle with the teams after the auction.
However, Harry Brook did not pay much respect to this regulation as he decided to opt out of the Delhi Capitals squad just a few days before the start of the tournament. And as announced by IPL body, earlier, he has been found guilty of ten regulation and has been banned from taking part in IPL for the next couple of years.
On top of that, Brook will not be paid the Rs 6.25 crore that he fetched in the auction as he opted out of the tournament prematurely. He will not be eligible to take part in IPL till 2027.
