IPL: RCB Gets Blockbuster Start, Trophy Holder KKR Thrashed!

The opening game of IPL 2025 is done and dusted. In what has been a significant collapse, last year’s trophy holders Kolkata Knight Riders came crashing down and got beat and comprehensively by Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

After posting a modest score of 173 runs on the board, courtesy of a collapse in the death overs, Kolkata needed a strong start with the ball in the second innings.

However, both the openers for RCB, Virat Kohli and Philip salt were absolutely relentless. They gave a blockbuster start to RCB in the first power play by scoring 80 runs which pretty much sealed the game in their favour. Kohli was particularly good as he was the top scorer for RCB with 59 runs to his name.

The momentum was carried through the course of innings and RCB ended up crashing KKR by a margin of seven wickets. More importantly, RCB gained massively in terms of net run rate as they completed the innings in just 16.2 overs. This is a pretty strong start for the Bengaluru side in the IPL this year. 

RCB looked pretty comprehensive with the ball and bat last night and they’ve announced themselves as strong contenders for the trophy this year.
