IPL OG Mumbai Indians Is Back, But…

One of the original hallmark franchises in the Indian Premier League is Mumbai Indians who had won 5 titles till now. This is the joint highest number of titles won by any team and only Chennai Super Kings has equal to this record.

However, the quality of the gameplay of Mumbai Indians has been going down gradually over the years and the same was on overwhelming display last year as the team finished in bottom positions.  Even this year, Mumbai comprehensively lost first two games. There were several complaints about the captaincy of Hardik Pandya as well.

However, the OG returned last night as Mumbai Indians appeared to show glimpses of their usual we in the game against Kolkata that was played in Mumbai yesterday. Mumbai was absolutely dominant over Kolkata in every aspect as they completed a huge win by completing the game in just 12 overs. 

This is the kind of dominance and overall punching ability that Mumbai Indians had developed over the years. This was on display last night after a really long slump period. 

However, despite this strong performance, there are still doubts about the consistency of Mumbai Indians. This strong win against Kolkata must snowball into something big, and only then can we affirmatively say that the original gangster of IPL – Mumbai Indians is well and truly back. 

It is heard that gun bowler Jaspreet Bumrah is also likely to return to the squad very soon, and he is already practising at the Mumbai cricket Association. Once that happens, then Mumbai Indians will be one of the firm favourites for the title this year, given that they maintain the mentioned consistency.
