Meet the new Dark Horse of IPL: Potential Title Winner!

When we speak of IPL and the favourites to win this coveted league, we generally speak of Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kolkata Knight Riders. The same happened before the start of this season as well.

However, after the start of IPL 2025, all the calculations went to shed. Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata are struggling big time. 

Coming to the topic now, there is this one prospective team that is punching above its weight. This team is none other than Punjab Kings.

Before the start of the season, not many people saw Punjab as a potential contender for the IPL title. However, considering the depth in their square and a capable leader in the form of Shreyas Iyer, this Punjab team looks very promising.

Punjab has completed to super comprehensive wins in the league stage and is promising to be the dark horse of the season. This team is getting things done silently without much naughty, and these are the kind of teams that end up creating history.

In all reality, Punjab had great squads over the years. But what they lacked is a capable leader who could lead from the front. This issue came to an end this year after Shreyas Iyer was acquired by the franchise. 

Iyer is not just putting up clinical batting performances, but he is also leading his team from the front. He has brought the stability and consistency to the team that was lacking over the years.

It could perhaps be argued now that Punjab is firmly one of the favourites for the title this year. But as is the case again, they will have to maintain this consistency through the course of next six weeks, which is going to be the real challenge for a non mainstream team like Punjab Kings.
