What Is Wrong With SRH This Year?

As we have been reporting for a long time now, Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of the most entertaining teams in the IPL. The attacking brand of cricket that Sunrisers Hyderabad plays has made them what they are today.

However, it is an accepted fact that this attacking and aggressive gameplay is bound to backfire here and there. The same appears to be the case with the team now as Hyderabad appears to be struggling when it comes to getting the right balance in batting.

One of the principal formulas followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad is going all out in the batting innings from ball one. This formula out exceptionally well last year when Sunrisers could maintain enough consistency to reach the final. So, despite the hiccup in the final, the team was loved for his brilliant efforts.

But when it comes to this year, the consistency in attacking play is missing. After the blockbuster opening game, where Sunrisers to 286 runs, they’ve gone downhill.

One crucial change that opponent teams are making against Sunrisers Hyderabad is preparing bowling friendly, wickets in order to contain the super aggressive batting order of Hyderabad. This was evident in the game against Kolkata last night.

All credit to Kolkata for putting on a brilliant performance with the bat, but the pitch was more friendly towards bowlers, which created more favourable conditions for the home team. And again, on the other hand, Hyderabad continued with its aggressive mindset and ended up losing more wickets, which broke the back of the chase.

One crucial change that Hyderabad could make to their batting approach is have that one anchor player in the middle order so that he can hold one end while other attacking batsmen can play around him. Having all 7-8 batters going from ball one might not work out all the time and the same appears to be the case with the current form of SRH.

But again, everyone can see flaws and shortcomings when a team is losing. So this feedback will just be an indicative one for Sunrisers rather than a decisive one. If the team decides to stick to its super aggressive mindset, then so be it, and we will have to see how this pans out in the due course of the tournament.
