One of the most crucial matches of the ongoing season of the IPL is going to be played today, and it will mark the clash between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. This is going to be one of the most decisive encounters in the league stage of the ongoing season.
The reason why there is a lot riding on this game is mainly due to the fact that it will potentially decide who is going to carry on to the play-offs.
Win here for Mumbai, would mean that they would eliminate Delhi from the tournament and progress to the play-offs. Considering the home ground advantage, Mumbai will stand naturally ahead of Delhi anyway.
On the other hand, if Delhi can manage to beat Mumbai, then they will be alive in the tournament and fight for other night. But even then they will have to win the game against Punjab, which is going to be played later.
If Mumbai is to progress to the play-offs, then a simple win against Delhi will see the deal for them. But for Delhi to progress, they will have to beat Mumbai today and later, Punjab in the corresponding match.
Nevertheless, the clash that is going to happen today is going to decide the fate of the play off race. It must be noted that Mumbai will turn out to be one of the title favourites if they end up qualifying for the playoffs tonight.
