There is an infamous notion in the Indian cricketing scene where there are several complaints about how North Indian cricketers enjoy much wider acceptance than South Indian cricket.
This has happened several times in the past, where North Indian cricketers consistently get better media coverage and attention on social media and mainstream media than South Indian counterparts.
This is getting highlighted again in the case of talented young batsmen, Sai Sudharshan, who won the orange cap for scoring the highest number of runs in the recent edition of IPL.
Sudharshan, who hails from Tamil Nadu scored 759 runs in this IPL, which is marginally higher than superstars like Surya Kumar Yadav(717) and Virat Kohli( 657). He turned out to be the most consistent batsmen for Gujarat Titans franchise this year and was absolutely brilliant with the bat.
However, Sudharshan did not get the coverage or attention in the mainstream media, despite his heroics. Many social media users are commenting that the very same mainstream media would’ve praised the same cricketer to the sky if he was a North Indian.
This is bringing back the age old notion about Indian cricket, where it is consistently argued that South Indian cricketers do not get as much Media attention as their north Indian counterpart. This was multiple times in the past, and it is getting reinstated in the case of Sudharshan now.
