Asia ‘Cup’ Controversy: Indian Captain’s 1st Reaction!

India completed a remarkable Asia Cup tournament by comprehensively beating Pakistan for the third time in the tournament, finale that happened on Sunday night.

However, India did not collect the Asia Cup trophy as it was supposed to be handed over by ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi who happens to be a Pakistani national. This is a part of the soft block mechanism that India used against Pakistan, including declining shaking hands with Pakistani players and more so.

The fact that India did not even bother to collect the trophy in order to avoid interaction with a Pakistani national had become a topic of major debate.

In this context, team India captain Surya Kumar Yadav has shared his first reaction “I won’t call it controversy. If you have seen, people have posted photos of trophy here and there.”

“But the real trophy is when you win the hearts of people, the players, the trust you earn, the support staff, the trust they have shown, the people who work behind the scenes, that is the real trophy. The real trophy is the work and effort of so many people on the field.” He stated.

It appeared that Surya Kumar Yadav is least bothered about not receiving the trophy and had a valid explanation to the same.
