Rohit & Kohli’s 2027 World Cup Availability in Doubt?

Team India management took a stunning decision while replacing Rohit Sharma with Shubman Gill for the captaincy position in the ODI format. This has spilled water on the theory that Rohit intends to be a part of the team till the 2027 ODI World Cup.

While fitness is one factor for Rohit Sharma, the other is that the team management is looking to give young players a long rope.  

On the other hand, there is also another discussion about the availability of Virat Kohli for the 2027 World Cup. If at all Rohit Sharma is not a part of the team set up for the World Cup, then it is essential that Kohli takes up the senior batsman role. 

India already has a young team that is loaded with potential, but little seniority. So technically, losing on both Rohit and Kohli would be a big blow to the team composition.

So, if at all the team decides to drop Rohit from the final set up for the World Cup squad, then it is essential that Kohli continues to be an integral part. For now, Kohli is as fit as ever, despite the fact that it has been a while since we saw him in Indian colours.

So there is a lot of confusion happening about the availability of these two veteran players for the 2027 World Cup. More clarity could possibly emerge after the Australia series as both Rohit and Kohli are a part of the same.
