BCCI Asked Rohit, Virat To Play Domestic Cricket?

Back in the day, there was this famous tradition for Indian players to avoid domestic tournaments after getting selected for the national team. But things are changing drastically now as the BCCI is instructing even national team players to play in the domestic circuits.

It has now reached a point where the BCCI has asked talismanic players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also to play in the domestic Vijay Hazare trophy.

Reportedly the team management wants Rohit and Virat Kohli to maintain top fitness throughout the year and the best way to ensure the same is by partaking in domestic tournaments and tours.

It must be noted that the Vijay Hazare one day tournament is the most popular limited overs league in Indian cricket. And the natural expectation is that Rohit and Virat might not have a problem in being a part of the same.

Unverified reports are suggesting that Rohit Sharma has already confirmed his availability to Mumbai Cricket for the participation in the Vijay Hazare trophy. Official update on Virat Kohli’s availability for the tournament is yet to be established.

Considering the fact that both Rohit and Virat aspire to be a part of the Indian team for the upcoming 2027 50 over World Cup, they might have to be up for a handful of domestic tours as well.
