On top of that, the pitch conditions here are also very variable, which often leaves fans very anxious.
But for some reason, the BCCI appears to be prioritising this Ahmedabad Stadium as almost every major match involving India is played here. The same thing happened last night as well, considering that India faced South Africa in the super 8 clash.
The last time India played an ICC game at Ahmedabad Stadium, there was absolute heartbreak as the men in blue ended up losing to Australia in the 50 over World Cup in 2023. And now, India faced another ICC knockout game here and again ended up losing, this time to South Africa in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
Fans on social media are absolutely frustrated by this development, and they are pointing out that Ahmedabad Stadium might be cursed beyond measure. A few people are even calling for dismantling of the stadium so that they wouldn’t have to face this torture in the future.
At the same time, a set of fans say that the stadium will have nothing to do with India’s performance, and it is natural for the players to have a few bad days.
But nevertheless, the Ahmedabad Stadium is starting to have a negative impression amongst Indian cricket fans, and this reputation is growing agonisingly these days.
As shocking as it may sound, both of India’s only two defeats in the recent years in ICC knockout games came at the Ahmedabad cricket Stadium which adds to the growing narrative.
