KKR To Break MI’s All Time Worst Record?

This IPL season has been very excruciating for the Kolkata Knight Riders as they have been unable to register a single victory so far. They have had the worst possible start to the season, losing five matches, with one game washed out due to rain.

As of now, the record for the most number of losses at the start of an IPL season is held by Mumbai Indians, who lost eight matches in a row in 2022.

Kolkata Knight Riders appear to be on trajectory to break this all time record for most number of losses consecutively in the opening stages of IPL as they have lost 5 games till now. There was this one washout game against Punjab Kings, which is the only saving grace for them. 

Kolkata is so very clueless with bat and ball that there might not be too much of a surprise if they end up losing nearly 90% of this year, commented an IPL follower. 

It is not like Kolkata is losing these games by a close margin either as almost all of their defeats till now have come by a massive margin has been absolutely annihilating them.

It is sad to see a team that had won 3 IPL titles till now facing such a situation as they are unable to win a single game since the start of the 2026 season of IPL. It has to be seen if they would enter the worst book of records by Mumbai Indian Indians for the most number of defeats or if they’d be able to turn things around.
