Olympian Dhanalakshmi Learns Sister’s Death On Arrival; Breaks-down

In a tragedy, Olympian Dhanalakshmi who returned to Indian on the conclusion of the 2020 Olympics, received heart-breaking news. The 22 year old athlete received a warm welcome at the Tiruchy airport but as soon as she reached the parking lot, she was informed that her sister Gayatri is no more.

Shocked by this terrible news, Dhanalakshmi broke down and kept sobbing. But it’s been almost a month that Dhanalakshmi’s sister has passed away but the family did not disclose it to the athlete for obvious reasons.

Dhanalakshmi hails from an underprivileged background. She lost her father at 15 and since then her mother has worked tirelessly to support them. Despite the hardship, Dhanalakshmi was focused on athletics. She was part of a reserve for the 4x400m mixed relay team but sadly she and her team did not make it to the finals of the main event.

Well this is the amount of sacrifices every sports person goes through and notwithstanding all the odds, they go out to see the tricolor fly high. Sometimes the hard work doesn’t pay off and Dhanalakshmi’s case is another example.
