Published by

After the resume of domestic flights in India from 25 May, Air India has opened the bookings for 75 international flights to Canada and the U.S. under the third phase of Vande Bharat Mission to bring back stranded Indian citizens in abroad due to COVID-19 lockdown.

The airline tweeted that more than 1,700 tickets have already been booked. On June 9 and 10, Air India will commence 75 outbound passenger flights on selected destinations in the US and Canada under the Vande Bharat Mission.

The Civil Aviation Miniter Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted – “Those who wish to travel to the United States and Canada and fulfil required-entry conditions can book themselves on these outbound flights. Some foreign airlines have already carried out evacuation flights and are planning to operate more flights. These flights will also take foreign nationals”.

Thee 75 flights will go to New York, Newark, Chicago, Washington, San Francisco, Vancouver, Toronto and a few other selected destinations. The airlines further mentioned to the public on their Twitter handle that they are charging only one-third the amount to the US, whereas other international air carriers are charging up to Rs 3 Lakh for a single seat.

However, scheduled international flights continue to remain shut in India. The Vande Bharat Mission is a mission started by the central government on May 7 to bring back the stranded Indians from abroad through special inbound flights.
